Hall of Fame

Homestead High School celebrates its outstanding athletic tradition by naming former Homestead athletes, coaches, and friends of the athletic program to the Homestead High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes individuals for:

  • The success he or she achieved while being a student-athlete at Homestead.
  • The success he or she achieved while serving as a coach at Homestead.
  • Distinguished service to athletics.

CRITERIA

Athletic Hall of Fame Criteria

Homestead High School celebrates its outstanding athletic tradition by naming former Homestead athletes, coaches, and friends of the athletic program to the Homestead High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes individuals for:

  • The success he or she achieved while being a student-athlete at Homestead.
  • The success he or she achieved while serving as a coach at Homestead.
    Distinguished service to athletics.

Homestead Athletic Hall of Fame Objectives:

  • To give deserved recognition to outstanding Homestead athletes, coaches and supportive individuals of athletics
  • To illustrate to current students and community members those individuals who have been instrumental in creating the outstanding Highlander athletic tradition.
  • To promote continued interest in the Homestead athletic program via alumni and community members.

To publicly celebrate Homestead’s outstanding athletic tradition on a yearly basis through the annual induction process.

Nomination Process:

Nominations must be submitted on the Hall of Fame Nomination Form. Homestead Athletic Hall of Fame Forms are available in the Activities Office or from the link in the right-hand column. Nominations are usually due by June 1st of each year.
Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Homestead alumni
  • Current and former coaches
  • Current and former Mequon-Thiensville School District employees

Nominee Criteria

Athlete:

  1. The nominee must have been a varsity letter winner.
  2. The nominee must be a graduate of Homestead.
  3. The nominee must be 30 years of age or older.
  4. Individual accomplishments within a sport are essential (e.g. all-state selection, state championships, all-conference, state records, school records).
  5. Contributions made to the success of a team are important (e.g. team state championship, team conference championship, team record).
  6. Having individual and team success in multiple sports is valued.
  7. While athletic achievement is the focal criteria, moral character, and good citizenship during the athlete’s time at Homestead will be taken into consideration.

Coaching:

  1. The coach must have been a contracted coach at Homestead High School.
  2. The coach cannot be currently coaching.
  3. Excellence in coaching is essential (e.g. record, conference championships, state competitions, team state championships, individuals coached who earned state championships, etc).
  4. Contributions to the positive development of students are important.
  5. Coaching responsibilities extending over a long period of time in multiple sports at 9th Grade, JV, or varsity are valued.
  6. Contributions to Homestead, the Mequon-Thiensville communities, the conference, the coach’s state association, and the WIAA are respected.

Distinguished Service:

  1. Any individual who has made significant contributions to Homestead athletics in roles other than participation in or coaching a sport (e.g. employees of the Mequon-Thiensville School District, alumni, community members).
  2. If given to a school district employee, the person cannot be currently employed by the Mequon-Thiensville School District.
  3. If given to a non-school district employee, the person may still be a current contributor to Homestead athletics.
  4. Longevity of contributions over time is essential (contributions of time, energy, and money will receive consideration).
  5. Modeling of sportsmanship and dedication, while inspiring similar traits in others is valued.
  6. Demonstrating a special care and concern for the development of student-athletes is important (e.g. inspiring students intellectually, physically, socially, or spiritually).
